Henry Van Derveer or Vanderveer, was born in 1791, in Roycefield, Somerset County, N.J., the son of Lawrence Van Derveer, founder of the Medical Society of New Jersey. Van Derveer graduated from Princeton in 1811, and matriculated at the Department of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania from 1813-1815, but did not graduate.
